What are PTSD Symptoms?
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms can vary widely but often include intense, recurring flashbacks of the traumatic event, nightmares, and severe anxiety. Other symptoms may include hypervigilance (being constantly on edge), emotional numbness, difficulty sleeping, irritability, and avoidance of places, people, or activities that trigger memories of the trauma. These symptoms can be debilitating and interfere with daily life, relationships, and overall well-being.
PTSD can develop after experiencing or witnessing traumatic events such as violence, accidents, or combat. Treatment typically involves trauma-focused therapy, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and sometimes medication to manage anxiety and depression.
